Hello everyone! Today this blog post is not about what is happening around or how we can focus on the good, but this is about something I really like. I wanted to write something for me this time. So here it is. People who haven’t seen Brooklyn Nine Nine, reading this will surely make you see it. For the people who’ve seen it, you know you are the best human/Brooklyn nine nine fan and I’m sure you’ll resonate with this. Nine Nine!!
Dear Jake Peralta,
Today someone told me to write a letter to my favourite character and the first name that came in my mind was you. I have been a Pro Netflix binge watcher since 3 years now and I came across you when one of my online friends suggested me to watch Brooklyn Nine Nine.
At first I was sceptical because I never heard anything about the show but somehow, something in me told me to watch it and oh boy, I don’t regret it at all. At first you didn’t impress me much with your baggy clothes and unprofessional behaviour and oh that hairstyle of yours, it wasn’t good. But as I progressed through the seasons, I started falling in love with the way you handled situations.
You mess up a lot of times but somehow still you manage to own to your mistakes and come out of the mess you’ve made that too with all the sarcasm you have! Your undying obsession with Caption Holt makes my heart melt. It’s not the obsession we see. It’s something so pure and adorable that I cannot un-see it. You had a troubled childhood but that never stopped you from being your best version.
You are compassionate in so many ways that I might get tired of listing them down. Your relationship with Charles is something I crave for. You have to admit that Charles was the one who really put the idea of you and Amy getting together.
You taught us how its okay to give a second chance to people. When Doug Judy, made a fool of you, and ran away, I know you were disheartened but in some tiny place of your heart and mind, you were ready to give him a second chance, and that second chance basically led you to a wonderful friendship with him.
You’ve taught us how it’s absolutely okay if your partner is on an upper position than you are, and no matter what you should always support them. Your relationship with Amy, has taught us of how, two people can come together, work together at the same place, solve cases together and yet be the most adorable couple. You never forced Amy to ask for permissions from you which is what every man should do.
Your friendship with Gina Linette is not the one where you both eat everyday with each other, roam around with each other, but nonetheless you know if ever one of you needs the other, they’ll be there. Always.
Your childish behaviour and the fact that you don’t wear a tie to the office doesn’t make you look like a detective, but you’ve always been so committed to your work. It shows how much you love it.
I have a lot more things to write about you, to write to you, but I’m falling short of words. Of all the things you’ve taught, the best one is that we need sleep irrespective of all the circumstances and we also need words like “noice” and “toit” to be included in the dictionary.
Thankyouuu Jake Peralta for being a good cop, a good husband, a great father, a colleague and a fabulous friend. You are indeed the best human/detective.
Yours truly,
A person who looks up to you.
